Here is a quick guide to planning live music for the big day.
Wedding Ceremony
Most commonly there are three formal pieces of music for the ceremony
- Processional (entry of the couple to be married) – a great love song that will send shivers
- Signing of the Register – music while you make it official
- Recessional (married couple exit) – uplifting to celebrate the new married couple
There are so many good songs for weddings. Lee recommends his clients choose songs for the reception that they love.
Wedding Reception
Live music can be a large or a small part of the reception. This may include:
- Cocktail music as guests arrive
- Entry of the bridal party
- Background dinner music
- The first dance
- Lively music later into the night
Reception live music is usually for an hour or more. Lee can play for up to three hours from his repertoire and can discuss song requests in advance for entry of the bridal party and the first dance.
Wedding tips
Later in the night it’s great to open a dance floor. Couples can hire a DJ or cue music after Lee has finished his set.
Lee has played ceremonies, receptions and combinations of both depending on the client’s request.
